Labor & Delivery Must-Haves
Whether it’s your first baby or your third, walking into the hospital prepared can bring so much peace of mind. These are the items I recommend packing in your hospital bag—practical, comforting, and mama-approved.
For Mom
• Hospital Bag – A spacious, easy-to-carry weekender bag. We also loved bringing this one for all the “extras”
• Cozy Robe & Nursing-Friendly Pajamas – Soft and easy to nurse in.
• Non-Slip Socks or Slippers – Hospital floors are cold and slippery.
• Nursing Bras or Tanks – Comfortable and supportive.
• Postpartum Recovery Underwear – High-waisted and stretchy (great alternative to mesh).
• Frida Mom Postpartum Recovery Kit and Peri Bottle – Ice packs, pads, liners, the works.
• Extra-Long Phone Charger – Outlets are never in a convenient place.
• Hair Ties / Headbands / Hair Clips – Keep hair out of your face during labor.
• Lip Balm & Face Wipes – Hospitals are dry, and quick refreshes feel amazing.
Comfort & Wellness
• Essential Oils / Roller Blends – Lavender or peppermint can calm and refresh.
• Portable Fan – Labor can make you hot quickly.
• Water Bottle with Straw Lid – Hydration made easy when you can’t sit up.
• Heating Pad / Rice Pack – For contractions or postpartum cramping.
• Sound Machine / Earplugs – Helps block out hospital noise.
Special Touches
• Camera / Tripod – Capture those first moments.
• Baby Memory Book or Journal – Write down birth details before they blur together.
• Bluetooth Speaker – Create a peaceful worship playlist for labor.
• Going Home Outfit for Mom – Loose, soft, and postpartum-friendly.
For Baby
• Footed Sleepers & Onesies – Easy zip-ups are a lifesaver.
• Swaddle Blankets – The hospital provides some, but bringing your own makes pictures sweeter.
• Going Home Outfit – Something comfy and special.
• Car Seat – Non-negotiable must-have.
• Baby Mittens / Nail Clippers – Prevent those tiny scratches.
Snacks & Extras
• Protein Bars – Quick energy for mama or dad.
• Electrolyte Packets – Helpful for recovery and hydration.
• Dad’s Overnight Bag with Essentials – Change of clothes, toiletries, snacks, and maybe even his own pillow.
✨ Pro tip: pack two bags—one for labor/delivery, one for postpartum recovery. That way you don’t have to dig through everything at once.
